Myths... E-mail

What you said about myths struck a huge chord with me. I remember a story about how an "aunty" was scandalized when her daughter asked her about vaginal discharge, and told her daughter that something was wrong with her. This girl was paranoid as hell and called me up, nervous, scared, and embarrassed about her predicament. I have heard from women in their 40's and even 30's that sexual activity makes you old, vaginal discharge is actually "spinal  fluid," and showering during your menses gives you joint pain. I can understand where the concern to curtain sexual issues comes from, but I wish our people would understand exactly how dangerous it can be to conceal information that can help prevent many cases of  abuse, disease, etc. It's sad that such injustice takes place in the name of shame.
