Kyla, Kudos on a fantastic editorial, great first issue (still reading through it) and overall excellent venture. I wrote extensively on crimes against women when I was an editorial writer at the Dawn for two years until Feb 08. The thing that intrigues me is that while sex = power, why or how did we become a people who order rape of a woman as a punishment for a man's sins? How is that not outraging the communities it is occuring in? If I can ever get my act together, I hope to submit something on that for Chay... Otherwise I hope to read articles on the politics of rape. A watered down crimes against women bill is meaningless. The wicked Hudood Ordinance has to be scrapped altogether. Best, Muna |
